Heritage Gatherings PA Editorial Policies

Our editorial and ethics policies are based upon our own original work, the Pulitzer Center, The Washington Post, and others that have paved the way before us. Our policies are designed to reflect Heritage Gatherings PA’s primary original, lifestyle-based content model.

Verification and Fact-Checking Standards

Heritage Gatherings PA authors have primary responsibility for reporting, writing, and fact-checking their stories. Stories are subject to review by one or more editors. The number of editors who review a story prior to publication and the extent of their involvement varies depending on a range of factors, including complexity, sensitivity, and the pressure of time.

Corrections Policy

Heritage Gatherings PA strives for accurate and complete articles. We endeavor to be promptly responsive in correcting errors in material published on digital platforms. If we are substantively correcting an article, photo caption, headline, graphic, video or other material, we will denote the correction that has been made with the word “UPDATED” followed by a date and timestamp at the bottom of the article. For grammatical errors, updates may be made without notice.

Take-down (Unpublish) Requests

Because of the ease with which our published content can be searched and retrieved online, even years after publication, content can sometimes appear outdated. As a result, we were sometimes asked to take down (or “unpublish”) articles from our website.

As a matter of editorial policy, we do not grant take-down requests. If the subject claims that the story was inaccurate, we will investigate and, if necessary, publish a correction. There may also be situations in which fairness demands an update or follow-up coverage. For each take-down request, we will consider whether further editorial action is warranted, but we will not remove the article as though it had never been published.

Heritage Gatherings PA does reserve the right to remove articles as a matter of interest or technical pruning. In these instances, all URLs will be redirected to our homepage, www.heritagegatheringspa.com.

That said, there are instances where articles will be removed from the website as a matter of interest and technical pruning. All such articles will be redirected to our homepage.

Inclusion of Advertisers

We write what we believe our audience wants to read and from a voice consistent with our publication. The people, services and businesses featured in Heritage Gatherings PA articles are determined by our editorial team at its sole discretion. We may organically include advertisers in unbiased content because it is our company policy to only partner with businesses that we endorse and feel our readers would benefit from knowing about. We want our readers to interact with our advertisers as we see our partner ads as a benefit to both our company and our readers. We do not accept advertising from companies that we do not feel will benefit our readers. We are not compensated for favorable reviews, however, we may include affiliate links for products, in which case we make note of the presence of affiliate links.
